WaveMaker seamlessly integrates with Git-based version control systems, enabling teams to follow their existing DevOps practices with full control over source code, versioning, and release pipelines. The generated project structure follows standard Maven conventions, making it easy to build, extend, and integrate with enterprise tooling.
Depending on your application architecture and infrastructure requirements, you can choose from multiple build formats and deployment strategies to suit your delivery model.
What does Build & Deploy mean in WaveMaker?
In WaveMaker, Build refers to the process of compiling and packaging your application artifcats, while Deploy refers to running that packaged application in a target environment such as an web server, container platform, cloud infrastructure, or CDN.
A WaveMaker application can be seperated into primary (artifcats)layers: Frontend and Backend, each built using industry-standard frameworks.
Frontend
The frontend layer is responsible for user interaction and presentation.
- Web Applications – Built using React or Angular, enabling responsive and component-driven UI development
- Mobile Applications – Built using React Native, allowing a single codebase to deliver native experiences on both Android and iOS platforms
Backend
The backend layer handles business logic, data processing, and integrations.
- Java and Spring-based services following enterprise-grade architectural patterns
- REST APIs that expose business capabilities to frontend applications and external systems
Supported Build Types
WaveMaker supports multiple build approaches for both backend and frontend layers, allowing teams to choose the most suitable deployment model based on their infrastructure and delivery requirements.
Backend Build Options
Backend builds package the server-side application, including business logic and APIs.

WAR Build Packages the backend as a WAR file for deployment on standard Java application servers such as Tomcat or JBoss.

Builds the backend inside a Docker container and produces a runnable Docker image, suitable for container platforms and cloud-native deployments.
Frontend Build Options
