Before you begin
WaveMaker AI Assistant works inside the application open in WaveMaker Studio. Before starting a task, confirm that the project, source state, and task boundary are ready for agent changes.
Check availability
Open the application and look for AI in the workspace switcher. The agents in the selector depend on the project platform and the features enabled in the current environment.
If the AI workspace or a required agent does not appear, check with the WaveMaker administrator for the environment. Do not assume that an agent shown in another project is available in the current one.
Prepare the application
Before submitting a request:
- Open the project and branch that should receive the change.
- Save or finish unrelated work in the Design workspace.
- Confirm that the pages, services, and variables named in the request exist.
- Check that required service connections and project configuration are usable.
- Decide what the agent may change and what it must leave alone.
The assistant works from the current application state. Ambiguous names, stale services, or unfinished manual changes make the result harder to review.
Start with a bounded task
Choose a result that can be checked in Studio, such as adding a filter to one table or creating a page that uses an existing service. State the boundary in the request:
On the Orders page, add a status filter above the existing table.
Use the table's current service variable.
Do not change the table columns or any backend service.
A bounded task gives the agent a clear target and gives the developer a short review path.
Know what remains under your control
Agent work stays in a draft while the session is active. Review the affected artifacts, preview the application when behavior changes, and keep the result only when it matches the request.
Use checkpoints to return to an earlier draft state. Start a separate chat when a new task needs an independent context and change history.
